had hutchin caracal race 40mm for about 5 months since last October. these tyres are fast and has good grip. I clock about 110 to 150km weekly.

the carcass is not so durable though, it has picked up some cuts and I managed to pinch a puncture that though was able to be sealed by the sealant on the rear when riding up a big curb. pressures are still holding and I'm still riding them.

race day fast and also race day durable.

Think I will sacrifice some speed for durability on my next set. Wonder if the 45s are a bit stronger or maybe I should look at other brands.

  1. My impression is this is one of the least durable gravel tires? I mean look at the weight for a starter 🙂

Fortunately there are more and more new tires that excel. Liking the new Schwalbe G One RS Pro or whatever they’re called but I’m not super hard on tires on my gravel bike, I save the abuse for the mtbs.

Thinking about going for these for my allroad bike. Not sure yet if I should go for the 40s or 45s…

Do you notice an actual difference in speed compared to the tires you were running before? If so how much?
