(I’m not sure if ebike conversions are allowed on this subreddit)
I converted my old and trusty Trek Marlin 5 into an ebike, and it has completely transformed it, unrecognisable and feels like a brand-new ride.
The Specs: (bike is Medium frame)
• Motor: CYC Photon Gen 2 (160mm cranks, 38T chainring)
• Battery: CYC A52L
• Display: Intuition display + full throttle setup
• Fork: SR Suntour Epixon (100mm travel)
• Rubber: Maxxis Grifter 29” x 2.5”
The yet to decide final config:
I’m still debating the final battery placement. It does fit inside the frame literally to the millimeter. It looks super clean and is my preferred mounting, but the downside is I can't remove it without taking off the clamps.
A note on clearance: Before anyone mentions the fork/battery gap; I’ve already done the "air-out" test! I drained the forks and fully compressed them in both configurations to confirm there’s zero contact. It’s very tight, but it doesn’t touch the battery 🙂
