I am using an air attack pump. I assemble the two black pieces (pic 1) as shown and stick them in the mouth of the pump. Then I try to put the mouth (pic 2) over the bike valve, but it doesn’t fit very snug and I hear a slight hissing, also as soon as I take 3 pumps it flies off – usually with the two rubber pieces staying attached (pic 3).

  1. Did you flip the lever into the lock position? I’m not familiar with that pump, but possible the schrader attachment is defective.

  2. See the lever at the center top of the first photo?

Close that. Screw the Schrader valve thingy on.

Put the pump on your valve, *then* open it. You should feel it sort of locking in. Only then should you start inflating.

Once you’re done, close the lever then remove the pump.

Your valve isn’t sitting much above the rim. I would deflate the tube and then centre the valve so it is sitting straight and then push the tyre against the rim to bring the valve out further.

You need some valve body to get the pump to seal against.

I take it you have the threaded part to hold the 2 rubber inserts onto the pump?

The pump lever should be in the down position when placing into the valve and then you flip it to the up position to lock it on. (Some pumps could be the reverse, so trial and error here)
