Hi,

I would like some opinions on this as I am currently on the fence about it.

Shopping for a new bike and I love the Aeroad. My budget is around that 5000 € mark.

Would you go with the 105 di2 for 4.5k or with the Sram Force for 5.5k? I am more than happy with 105 as I use it on my TT bike, but I’ve read some not so positive things on those DT Swiss wheels (I know these don’t have that problem with recall, but they are a bit narrow for a high end wheel in 2026 and unstable in crosswinds afaik).

The main reason I am even entertaining the more expensive bike are those Zipp Wheels. But are they that much better? Or am I better off going withthe 105 and maybe replace the wheels later?

Any opinion is welcome! Thank you!

  1. The Force is the better groupset and you want the other Wheelset, so why even think about it? If you can afford it then go for it.

Remember that zipp wheels are hookless, so your choice of tires is limited. Sram components are also more expensive than shimano, and chain drops are relatively common with some sram groupsets. DT wheels are good you can always sell them and buy another set of wheels.

  3. I’m fairly certain that the SLX 7 AXS comes with rival and not force.

If you already have Di2 on your other bike, I would stay with Shimano so that maintenance and spare parts are easier to deal with.

For some people this might be irrelevant but for me I will always prefer Shimano because their brake fluid is far less toxic. Also I like the clean design more.
