Got jealous of my partner’s GRX Limited groupset, and wanted the polished cranks. So I bought normal 11sp GRX cranks, stripped the anodization, sanded from 180 to 3000 grit, and polished them with simichrome. Gotta say, I’m pretty happy with the results. They aren’t perfect, but they will be ridden so who cares?

Very cool. Might look rad to put GRX in black where you can still kind of see it.
Try and get it anodized for that extra protection! You could also avec the GRX logo laser etched on it. But they look sick as is, very nice work.
Time to don a respirator and spray some 2k clear.

I did the same to my SLX cranks and derailleur cage on my Bikepacking bike, I didn’t get it as clean (because I didn’t take sanding too seriously) but its held up great through its first PNW winter.
These look way more boutique than off-the-shelf polished cranks!
Saw a dude polish his M5100 crank and now I wanna. I sadly am to lazy for that stuff
