Hey everyone,

I have a Trek Checkpoint SL5 that I bought second hand and rode for around 5000km (the previous owner had ridden for 500km). Lately the bottom bracket was really rough and I had a creaking sound when pedalling so I thought I would replace the BB. Trying to extract the drive side BB was really hard, I had to put a lot of force to extract it. When extracted, I saw that the threads were shaved (right BB cup on the picture) while the non-drive side was fine.
I cleaned the inside of the frame, greased it with lithium grease and tried to screw it in : it was a bit hard but I thought it was ok to torque a bit (apparently I should’ve been able to torque it by hand).
So now the brand new BB had its threading shaved like the old part and I’m wondering if the threads are shot on the frame.

Would you guys have any insight? I’ll go to a shop in 2 days but I’m kinda anxious in the meantime :/
