This was our first time riding the luge. I’d always avoided it before because the road back to the parking lot didn’t feel safe to me. I originally planned to take her to Whiting Ranch, but it was closed due to the recent rain, so we ended up riding the luge instead.
This happened last Saturday after we finished riding. Hopefully no biker ever has to deal with something like this.

If the roads are so dangerous, why are you bringing your daughter out on them?

Awesome you and your daughter climbed up to enjoy the Luge!!! Thats a solid loop. Unfortunately, that is common with motorcycles on the road ride at the exit. I just stay to the right and let gravity get me to the speed limit…

Been on the fence about getting a gravel bike and riding some local roads… this kind of stuff makes me wanna just save that money and use it on my next mountain bike instead.

I’d never take my kids onto a highway on a bike. What a risk.
Happy you guys are safe. Id plan a better route / trail.next.time or shuttle right to the trail head / exit.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but bikes and cars shouldn’t be active in the same places.
I will occasionally take a ride in my area only on quiet side streets and enclosed roads with minimal traffic and pavement I can access whenever I like and even that leaves me feeling uncomfortable.
I literally will not cross or ride on any of the main roads.
However on the trails, I’m raring to go!
I drive to where I ride sadly, but it’s worth it,

WTF, glad you guys are OK

Stuff like this doesn’t even surprise me anymore. I live in the city and I have to ride through a large part of it to access most trails and having probkems with people in cars (I know in this situation its an motorcycle, but still) is an everyday experience.
People not checking when turning, passing too close, on their phones,……constant. And then you have the NPCs on the sidewalks, had to put a fucking bell on my mountain bike.

He shouldn’t have done that but you seriously can’t find a better place to go and ride? This is dangerous outside of people acting like jackasses to begin with

No one agrees with the idiot on the motorcycle. Luge is my favorite downhill, but I avoid it because I’m scared of that road. I also ride on the other side of the white just in case and probably wouldn’t take any young riders that can’t ride that line there because its a crazy road.

I really wish people would lose their licenses more frequently.

The luge! I’ve had some close calls on that road too…
