I’m writing this post for the future everyone who is looking for real human reviews online before purchasing stuff. Especially the pricey stuff and from unfamiliar brands. And also because wt actual f.

I started riding road bikes some 8 years ago, so I’ve been around for a while. So yes, I know that Race fit should be tight. Most of the jerseys I wear are S (Rapha) or M (Assos). I wanted to order MAAP for the first time, I found a currently discounted model Solar Pro Race Jersey. I used their calculator, and based on this they recommended I ordered S. But I heard their sizing is off, so I went with medium. Also, based on the table with measurements posted together with this model, I’m between S and M. So should be fine, right?

(For reference for other girls looking for their nice looking jerseys out there: I’m 34, 168 cm tall, chest 85 cm, waist 74 cm, hips 97 cm.)

I was barely able to fit my arms through the sleeves. And I couldn’t really zip the jersey, this is how much the sizing was off.

I swapped it for an XL and now I have the fit that looks on me like on the model on MAAP website. This is also the first time in my life EVER that I purchased an XL.

Some additional notes:

I’m based in the US and the shipping times and the return process were really good. The whole thing took a week (since ordering the jersey for the first time until receiving the replacement).

MAAP return policy for discounted items is ridiculous. You can’t get money back, only swap the size or get „credit” in their store. So watch out.

Why on earth would the sizing be so off? What’s the rationale there? What’s the point? Why are they posting the tables with measurements if they are so far off? Also, I’m really not a big girl, and rather lean and sporty. Of course not the TDF-level lean and sporty, but let’s be serious: it’s us, the normal people and weekend warriors who are their target group, not the professionals.

Cheers!

  1. Interesting perspective for women sizing.

I also got this Men’s jersey. It’s tight but perfect imo. I ordered the same size as my other Rapha Pro Team Aero jerseys and I would say these are ever so slightly tighter.

  2. Don’t size up on the solar pros. Because of the way they’re made, the first 3 wears are going to feel extremely tight and you should go with “if it zips it fits” and size down as small as you can.

Reason being these jerseys do stretch over time and the material they’ve got also has a lot of allowance for stretch. I got it initially in M, and then it fit great but only for 2 weeks, I got the S, and then only for maybe a month after that it became bunched up around the tummy area. After heading into the MAAP lab, they told me the S is too large for me to begin with and that I should’ve gone with XS.

I now wear the XS and indeed, it’s tight the first or second time but after a wash it fits perfectly now.

  3. I normally wear a small race fit, got a medium, and could barely zip it. The arms were tight and overall it felt very uncomfortable.
