  1. Out of interest I looked at the specs here: [https://www.motobecane.com/cross/fcxti.html](https://www.motobecane.com/cross/fcxti.html)

This is essentially a higher-end cyclocross bike from about ten years ago. Cables are on top of the top tube in classic cyclocross fashion for easy carrying.

However it also has many features that make it quite utilitarian. BB is low like a road bike, and in general the geometry is very much like from a road bike. Based on some googling, it seems to fit 40 mm or maybe even 45 mm tires which is unusually good for a cross bike.

I would personally have zero issues riding that for fast gravel. Put some 40 mm Pirellis on it, if they fit, and go ride.

  2. This was my first road/gravel bike. It’s a better all road than gravel bike tbh. It is low and long. And the geo made it hard for long harsh days. But for the price it ripped for sure. I don’t think you can get 45s I think 40 was the biggest and that would be pushing. I had a 650b wheeler for real gravel days.

  3. Nice, i have a motobecane fantom cross that was my first road/gravel bike – it looks very similar to this just black and aluminum.
i paid about $400 but mine has cantilever brakes, those hydraulic discs are much better option IMO.
i’ve enjoyed that bike for a few thousand miles hope this bike sees plenty more!
