So I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my mates brake levers which as you can see move around a shit ton. The rear brake doesn’t work at all which could be needing new brake pads and fixing the levers, the front brake still works but the lever comes in too far. Do you know an easy fix or will it have to the bike shop and/or new levers?

Pretty sure those are hydraulic brakes with built in shifters. They might have some adjustments for lever position but otherwise you’ll need to bleed them. Best to take to a shop if you’ve never bled brakes before.
Oh boy Brifters! They need a bleed, and some pads. They will probably last another couple of decades after that
