Yellow is where you have the chain running right now. There’s a little tab where the purple mark is. The chain needs to be rerouted on the inside so it follows the red line instead.

I’ve done this when installing a chain, plus I’ve had it done at a shop (and sent a photo to the shop but don’t recall the result). I took off the bottom sprocket, fixed the issue and put the sprocket back with the chain looped over it. I moved the derailleur to the smallest cog for a looser chain to make this easier. Good luck!

The chain is routed wrong between the two pulleys. Also chain does appear too short.

Hey OP.. it’s a common mistake that we all see a few times a week in other subreddits. The chain is mis-routed, happens to the best of us.
The chain looks short mostly due to the fact that the chain covers more distance when misrouted.
