If you have a belt drive bike and perform your own maintenance, do yourself a favor and invest in a Krikit tension gauge. I've tried to use the Gates app for the last two years and it's pretty useless, the readings are inconsistent even on the same section of the belt. I finally bit the bullet and bought a real Krikit gauge after my belt skipped on the sprocket this week. Received it this weekend and was able to properly tension my belt in minutes. It was so much easier than the stupid app and the readings were very consistent. You don't need to spend $50+ on the "Gates Carbon" branded gauge, the Continental 9001 Krikit gauge is identical and is only $21 on the A-Z site right now.

No, I just keep it tight enough to not  skip and sit okay in as many teeth as possible.

I have found I use less tension than what the app says I should. I run it with a Rohloff, so it should have less tension than a pinion or a single speed (lower frequency).
