Really feeling like the Bike Gods blessed me this week finding this Specialized Hardrock locally for an affordable price. The seller suggests it's an edition in the line from 1984, interesting as the rear brake caliper is placed under the rear chain-stays (I haven't had time yet to look into the yearbook frame catalog, so correct me if I'm wrong with the date) but personally, I like this and think it gives the frame a nice clean look. I replaced the non-original saddle, with a Selle Turbo I had in my drawer as I find these quite comfortable, this will probably change to my Brooks B17 Ti though at some stage.
I thought I'd do the bike some justice by attempting to take some half-decent photos before it may change. I'm not sure of what I want to do with it at the moment but I like the idea of keeping it fairly original with a few small noticeable upgrades. I plan on putting some tan-wall Specialized vintage tires on which are currently on a GT Timeberline, front and rear racks too. Will have good gander though this page, there's plenty of Hardrock inspo to go through which is great.
In the mean time I'll just ride and enjoy it, nice to join the club!

Simplicity and class. ππ
Thatβs a 1988. In 1984, Specialized only had Stumpjumper models for mtbs.
Those β80s colors are just delightful every time! Plain to see why the Hard Rock is so susceptible to the xbike tax
