Novice home mechanic here. Changed the rusty chain on my wife’s bike last night and also tuned the derailleur. I tracked down a clicking sound to the front chain rings. The chain was trying to jump to the next ring up each time. On very close inspection it looks like the middle chain ring is bent and when the bend is closer to the next ring the chain tries to jump off. The photo shows quite clearly this. I’ve seen some comments that there are sometimes bumps on chain rings to help guide chains to the next ring but is actual bends where the ring looks wobbly normal? The front derailleur is tuned correctly.

Nope. You can buy a single chainring to replace it.
There should not be a bend if there is one , based on the tourney group set you’ll likely need a new set of crank arms as most likely yours are a one piece crank/chainring. Replacing this will take some specialized tools and knowledge so it is in your best interest to take it in to a shop if you don’t want to deal with that.
It could actually be the outer chainring that is bent. They are more susceptible to whacks as they are larger in diameter. Double check to ensure you are replacing the bent one.
