Feel like im losing my mind here so any help would be appreciated, im very new so might be doing something stupid so apologies.
Im trying to attach my cleats to my shoes however I cant seem to figure out how they go on in a way that works, the facing the way on the left side of the image means they clip into the pedals with this side facing up, this mean’s there doesn’t seem to be a way of attaching them to the shoe.
If I fit them the other way they attach to the shoe but don’t clip into the pedals.
Might not be the best explanation but please help me so i dont quit before i get started.

Let’s first check what you’re working with. These cleats look like a pair of non-original Look cleats, is that right? Which pedals have you got and which shoes are you trying to attach them to?
Please show the shoes, how you mount them to the shoes and the pedals used
The “grippy” side (the right one on pic 1) against the shoe sole. You have a three hole shoe? Use the metal shims — and maybe the bolts are too short?
Which cleats are these specifically?

Based on your comments you are trying to use LOOK delta cleats with Shimano SPD-SL pedals. You need SPD-SL cleats instead, which are mainly black with yellow accents.
If look cleats are anything like shimano ones, then you’re missing some rectangular slotted washers which go between the bolt and the cleat
For goodness sakes! Take a GOOD ENOUGH photo so we can help! I’m sure you are not going to run out of “film”!
Also, be careful with cleat placement. Lots of people… a few people have misaligned them and caused excessive wear on joints.
Need to know what your pedal system is, eg Look or Shimano. These look to be Look Delta cleats. They will only work with the older Look pedals. They will not work with the newer Look Keo pedals. These will not work with Shimano pedals either.
I have never, ever seen a pair of shoes come with cleats. That’s so weird.
Do we need to attach instructions to every iphone on how to take pictures? Like someone else said it’s not film; you can view the photo and retake if it doesn’t show what you intended!
