  1. Why not just buy a new hub? That’s got to cost a lot to make and even if it works perfectly, which is highly questionable, you’ll have to rebuild the wheel (quite possibly with special spokes) to use it anyway.

  2. As someone who likes to tinker and make, and as someone who hates wastrels– I appreciate it; I think a new hub might be the simpler route

  3. Worked on a Amp Research dual suspension many years ago, had some of the og disc brakes on it and the there was an adapter similar to this bolted onto the hub and spokes laced from the flange worked however many years to the point we worked and many years afterwards if that’s any consolation to your project.

You’re going to heat treat this, right?

Aside from that, this looks like an entirely capable solution.

    6 or 7 thousand series?

  5. I just noticed that you had 5 photos…. I only saw the 1 (first) photo first. My initial impression was why. Just get a new hub. And then I thought about how we did this in the 90s to non disc hubs.

So I went back and saw you had 5 photos. As I went through the I thought, it better be something cool and worthy like a classic king or a white industry. AND THEN πŸ‘Œ 😍 😍 😍 😍 ❀️

God speed my good man. God speed to you.

  6. And it’s a white industries that is on a Klein. Double kudos. πŸ”₯ πŸ‘Š πŸ‘Š

    No notes.

Just kudos for doing something i don’t think i could ever accomplish.

    Nice job

  8. Rim brakes look way cooler.

You only need medium-strong hands to get good stopping with rim brakes when it’s wet.

Disk brakes require less skill to modulate when you do lock up.

This is a Cool project, I hope the metal version works perfectly.

I would make another design without the fillet between the base of the disk brake mount and the new flange.

Reason being it’s a bit more complicated to machine I think. However I am not a huge programmer or tooling guy. A smaller fillet could.be done with a smaller bullnose to tidy things up.

But that large of a fillet could drive up the cost and time.

Speak with the shop you go too.
