Hi y’all.
My little brother who wanted to encourage me to go out of the house more often bought me a gently used 44cm Bianchi Aria. I didn’t have the chance of testing out the bike beforehand because he and the bike were already at home by the time I got off from work.
Bike looks gorgeous and it was light. Everything was going well until I tried it out for the first time.
Now mind you, the last time I rode a bike is more than a decade ago. I looked like a new born deer trying to get my bearings when riding the bike.
My height is barely 5 ft and my inseam is just about 27 inches. Without shoes, my shin is digging on the top tube and with shoes on, it is better but there is really no clearance. So to no surprise, I ended up smacking my lady bits more often than not when dismounting and mounting the bike. I also have black bruises on the side of my knees because no way in hell will I let that thousand dollar bike hit the pavement. Since it is also equipped with dropbars, my shoulders and wrist were screaming in pain by the time I hit the sack.
I am grateful for him and the bike but I am in a world of pain right now. Instead of enjoying the bike, I feel a sense of dread just by looking at it.
I thought of buying a hybrid bike to build up my confidence because I think that once I get more saddle time, I could get used to the road bike he bought me. Below are my picks for now. Let me know your thoughts. I am open to suggestions.
• Sirrus 4.0 (2021)
• Trek Fx sport 4 (2021)
• Liv Thrive advance (2023) Idk if there is an older version but for now it will do.
