  1. I have two bikes with these tyres, no punctures yet. I can’t imagine they’re very efficient to ride, but that’s not the point.

THey are not puncture proof. The only tires I had thus far that were very close were the Marathon Mondials because even the lower end versions are designed exactly to be highly puncture resistant.

  3. They are like rolling on cart wheels and are heavy, but pretty bomb proof for the long haul. Just don’t expect much plush comfort, so I hope you ordered the maximum size your frame allows, despite the weight.

  4. They are very durable. They are also very heavy. I swapped them out for something more lively, and it’s like having a brand new bike. I’d definitely take them on a remote tour where durability matters most, but for general riding I’ll deal with occasional flats.

  5. I have them for years on my commuting bike and never had a puncture. They are super durable too. But i would not go bikepacking with them if i had another choice. Really stiff and heavy

I sold mine after one week of trying them out. Honestly I’d rather plug tubeless tires over and over again than suffer on these.

  7. They are extremely puncture proof. But they are also really heavy and the ride quality is horrible.

    I wouldn’t ride them.

  8. Have them on all my commuting bikes. I need to be at work on time and there are few tyres that come close in reliability.

  9. I’ve used these and Continental tour. The continental tyres to punctures are just as durable but lighter, more tread and can have a higher psi.

They are the ultimate tradeoff in the performance vs puncture resistance scale. If no punctures ever is your goal, go for it. Performance wise they barely deserve the label bike tire.

If you buy them, they’ll last forever.

Mostly because you’re probably taking them off your bike because of the horrible ride quality and rolling resistance.

  12. As someone who is more on the gravel side of things, nope.

I had some Marathon E-Plus on an ebike and because of the weight, the motor and the use case, they were fine.

For acoustic bikes, no. I’ve only seen them on bikes that look neglected, public sharing bikes and people who value puncture resistance above everything else.

I wouldn’t get them if ride feel is any factor that you value. One 47-622 almost weighs the same as two 50-622 gravel tires. The sidewall construction and rubber compound are all geared towards longevity and therefore against ride feel. I’ve heard that rolling resistance isn’t that much of an issue but still.

I’ve also seen people struggle with taking these off when they truly had bad luck and something very long puncture the tube.

I’m using the touring version and like them for commuting with my ebike. The most important thing for me is to avoid punctures

Schwalbe Marathons, whether the Marathon Plus or the highly-durable Mondial, are not puncture-proof. If you are riding in countries where the road shoulders are littered with tiny wire fragments that came off truck tires, those will pierce through any of those tires.

If you want real puncture-proof tires (though obviously nothing is 100%), then you need to ride tubeless. I highly recommend that people get wheels with tubeless-ready rims even if they plan to ride tubes for the time being.

  15. Work great on my commuting MTB
They are firm and a little heavy but no flats in the 2 years I’ve ran them.

I just reduced pressure in the rear and softened the front shock to improve the ride as my commute isn’t long enough to worry about a little additional resistance.

We have them on our Surly LHTs. No complaints. I had one burst for no reason in Amsterdam, but that can only have been a FOAD nail or something. Other than that, they’re tough, quiet (enough) and comfortable.

  17. They are great for commuting and long pavement tours.

They are kind of awful to ride on – heavy and very stiff.

They aren’t really very good off of asphalt so you might get more information elsewhere.

I have these on two bikes: one for commuting and general urban riding, the other for loaded bike touring. The ride quality is good enough for me and durability is great. I use to tour on the Mondials, but find these roll better on pavement, whereas the Mondials were better on dirt. I have 26 x 2’s on my touring bike and they handle gravel just fine, but would opt for something different if I was mostly riding on dirt.

  19. Just ordered the Green Marathon for my bike that I use in the city. Hopefully they will keep me puncture free.

I have them on my “city bike”. I love the reflective side walls, they looks pretty cool and good for safety. Never had a flat yet. The contact patch and side to side is smooth, but they otherwise ride a bit hard, but is fine for city riding. I would not want them on gravel.
