Hi all,

I recently built my first wheel and converted my Hope Pro 5 rear hub (Microspline) from thru-axle to QR 135 using the official conversion kit.

After installation, I noticed about 1 mm of axial play in the freehub body (in/out movement along the axle).

The end caps are fully pressed in, the cassette is torqued correctly (~40 Nm), and the play will not disappear when the QR is tightened in the frame.

There is no noticeable lateral wobble – just axial movement.

Is this within normal tolerance for a Pro 5 hub, or should there be zero perceptible play?

Could this indicate a missing shim or incorrect preload?

Appreciate any insight!

no you dont want that, i have no idea how that could happen or why you would use a quick release on a mtb. my first thought would be to check if the bearings are properly pressed in/everything is torqued to spec
