Hello.

I was excited to use my new fenders but encountered a problem when I tried to install them.

Rear fender mount clearance is too small. The mounting bracket hits the seat tube.

The mount is also different on Marin's website. I'm guessing this mount was compromised due to sizing?

Is there any solution for this? Full fenders are non-negotiable for me and this bike is relatively new (bought last month).

EDIT:
There's only a 2-3mm clearance on the top of the hole because of the weld.
I'm installing Velo Orange fenders.

  1. I am assuming you are trying to fit aftermarket versions rather than Marin parts.

You may need to file down the top of the bracket to allow it to get to the mounting point. It is not unusual for tweaks to be needed to fit aftermarket parts because they are generic to allow them to be fitted on many different bikes where the genuine ones will be tailor made but at a much higher price.

File (or bend) the loop so that it doesn’t contact the seat tube too badly. Or, alternatively, you can use a set of zip ties laced through holes on the sides of the fender and tied to that fancy bridge.
