  1. Oh and don’t forget the £20 to be able to purchase anything from go outdoors … I am surprised go outdoors are still doing this crap £20 to buy … winfields outdoors is a much better option and a lot cheaper than go outdoors not just a little saving but a lot

  2. Stay well clear of the Technicals bag shown!

The 65L version is the worst bag I've ever had!

    One to avoid!

I've had cheapo backpacks from Aldi that I'd rate higher than quality of the Technicals bags shown here.

Too much of a wrestle to pack down. Once packed all the pockets are useless. The seams rip on the top pocket and side pockets very easily, the clips aren't durable and the straps are poorly designed and weakly stitched.

  3. I wouldnt recommend the OEX sleeping mat at all! It may have a semi-decent R-value but you may as well take a cardboard box to sleep on! Spend a little extra and get a thicker, more comfortable mat!

  4. Definitely recommend the OEX Hiero stove and the gas/pot stand adapter. Better to spend on a decent stove now and it will be more use for longer. On food, forget adventure food packs, go to B&M, normal complete meals in tins and packets, £1 – £1.50 a go, they taste way better too. If you add in the weight of the water you need, adventure meals don’t really stack well.

  5. The first bag he show is my camp bag, plenty spacious, has held my gear plus tent for a six day Scout Hike. It has weird but handy zipped pockets all over and don’t put anything in the bottom compartment before filling the bag you’ll stand no chance of getting it out unless you empty the bag

  6. I went yesterday and picked up a phoxx II, sleeping bag and mat. Didn't even think about grabbing a couple of meals 😢. Tins will do for now I guess.

  7. That OEX self inflating mat is absolute dog shit. It's actually what I started with and very quickly replaced it. For a start it's only a 3/4 length. It's thin and offers zero support and barely any protection from the cold. You may as well chuck money in the bin.
