I have never, ever, experienced anything like this.

Tubed, 27.5” wheel.

Got some new tyres and went through the process of trying to take off the tyre.

It was soo stiff – I thought that I would cut the tyre and use pliers to take off. I even pulled all the rim tape off, as I thought that may be contributing.

Sprayed in some WD-40, and some De Solvit to loosen. Even pulled the hair dryer out to try heat the rubber. Then I tried to cut away the part of the tyre that seemed to be stuck on rim.

Front wheel is a 20”, so had no issues there. It’s a cargo bike.

My main question is – have a stuffed the rim? Has anyone seen this before? Will my LBS laugh at me?

  1. I have yet to experience this but since brands sell talcum powder specifically intended to mitigate this.

The yellow white ish material between the tire and tge rim looks like glue. That would also explain the sticking to the rim.
I have never seen that before.
