Adventuring after a hip replacement 💪🏽

When it comes to recovering for a hip replacement it’s important to regain both your mobility and strength ☝🏽

Simple movements can help in your initial recovery to do that without increasing pain and aggravating the joint 👍🏽

The blue tape signifies the “surgical leg” 🦵🏽

6 weeks is typically used as a time to increase activity as pain likely is reduced at this point. Please keep in mind everyone’s surgery experience will be different. Some can do more earlier while others may take a little more time ⚠️

For these particular movements, if they do not feel good for you- hold off. These movements should not significantly increase pain ‼️

In my experience, many people with hip replacements can recover rather quickly. These are some common moves I used frequently with patients following hip replacements when I was working in home care 🏡

Start conservative with repetitions, for example 5-8 repetitions to avoid aggravating the joint as you work to build more tolerance to activity ✅

IMPORTANT: If you have been given any movement restrictions or precautions, please abide by those ⚠️

Inside of the membership, Adventurers for Life- I just uploaded a new follow along routine for those after a hip replacement which can be found in the Workout Library 🙌🏼

Adventurers for Life is there to help you with all aspects of the journey with arthritis and is adaptable to what you are going through and how your joints are feeling ❤️

While movements and strategies to reduce inflammation can help to avoid surgery, it’s not always 100%. There certainly is a time and a place for it and it doesn’t mean you’ve “failed”. The more you know and the stronger your body is- the more prepared you’ll be for recovery 👏🏼

  1. Thank you!! I'm a year out but these exercises are priceless. It's a lifetime of restrictions for me so please continue to add these types of moves they are very helpful!!❤

  2. Love your quads! Well done.
Wish I had your tutorials when I had my hip replacements back in 2018 was fine
2019 they gave me an infection during surgery, came out woke up, felt like I had the flu and a stomach ache, ate n everything came out both ends!!
    Horrible infection!!
Then allergic to every antibiotic. Total body rash.
Hip did fine. Hospital stay for 2nd hip: 4mos for hospital acquired infection!!

Moral of the story: Avoid the hospital at all cost!!😊

  3. Thank you! I had my hip replacement in Guadalajara because the US price would've completely bankrupted me. However there was a lot of miscommunication due to the language barrier and my PT seemed very minimal. But I'll wait a few more weeks before trying this. Thank you again.

  4. Hi Alyssa! What foot strike would be the best for 1 year post op hip replacement? I was a distance runner pre op but I was a heel striker pretty much my entire running career. I'm trying to change it so I don't put more stress on my knees and hips since I'll probably be getting knee surgery in the future.

  5. Thank you for all good videos before I have knee problems and you're videos help me a lot.
Now I did hip surgery and I like your green chair for exercise where you bought if you don't mind i want to buy.
Happy new year and have a blessed life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
