i did that mistake in the usa and nearly got run over so i follow the right laws now in other countries
In England people cross at non designated crossings sometimes 😬

Where I live we are free to cross the street whenever we want as long as no traffic is coming 🙈

In America the pedestrian always has the right of way no matter what the lights and signs say be for example a famous football player was driving light was green a pedestrian crossed anyway now he's in prison for vehicular homicide
