I bought a bike recently off Gumtree and unbeknownst to me it appears they have cut the fork too short which led to the handle bars coming off. It's a nice bike and I'm hoping to just get a new fork and headset and replace it myself, but I've been struggling to know what to buy and don't want to send money on a part that won't fit.
The bike I have bought is Genesis Delta 30, I though it would be easy enough to find a replacement part, but I have been proven wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated and what fork would be a good replacement?

A tapered steerer fork, fine one with the same Rake and A2C length as this one if you can find it
Well that’s a tapered fork so either a frame with matching tapered head tube or one with a 44mm head tube will fit with an inset headset
Do you have a picture of how short they cut it? So we can see the assembly basically?
Handlebars coming off because the fork is cut too short is not something I’ve heard before.
Edit: just eyeing the link you sent and the pictures I’m not sure there is much cut off. Could it be the compression bung has slipped?
What is the gold ring on the fork steerer? Looks like an upside down compression ring that would install above the upper bearing. Makes me think you might be having an issue due to assembling it incorrectly.
From the photo it is more than enough steerer even for XL size frame. We need more photos and details on your bike and what happened. That orange ring shouldn’t be in the steerer tube.
Unless you are 3 meters tall or have some unusual back problems, that fork is long enough.
