Hey all,

I’m coming back from bit of a hiatus with the bike. Had a crash and it really rocked me. However as time goes on I think about cycling more and more.

Just looking to know what to look out for mechanically. The bike has been under a weatherproof cover for about 9 months (based in UK). I checked it all the time and it never got directly rained on, however I think the moisture has gotten to the chain and pedals so I’m planning on replacing them.

I’m getting it fully serviced at the end of the month which includes:

Full inspection of the bike and its parts

All fasteners checked and torqued

Drivetrain removed, cleaned and re-fitted

Headset bearings cleaned and re-greased 1

Gear cable inner and outer replaced

Gears indexed and hanger aligned

Brakes bled and adjusted

Fork lower leg serviced

Shock air can serviced

Dropper post – basic service

Wheels trued

Tyre sealant topped up

Another note is I am planning on keeping it inside from now on. Finally convinced my room mate to let me keep it indoors. Is this a bad spot for it? Plan on turning the radiator down a bit. It’s not directly touching it

If your cassette and chain aren’t worn, and there is no rust, there is no need to replace it. Apply lube, let it sit for 15min and wipe off all excess.

Before you take it to the bike shop, give it a good bath. They will appreciate it!

Keeping it inside is the ideal spot for a bike
