  1. 1986 Diamondback Ascent, I believe. All the decals are gone. 23” frame.

    Bought it for $20 from a French tourist about to leave Los Angeles. It was covered in rust, with a bent brake boss, a dented wheel, and a broken rear derailleur.

    * Correct rear derailleur $30
    * Seatpost bolt $10
    * Chain $15
    * Brake pads $15
    * Tubes $10
    * No-name poopwall tires $35
    * Leather to reupholster vinyl Schwinn saddle $20
    * MKS Sylvan Gordito pedals $40
    * REI stainless bottle cages $30
    * Wald 952 chrome fenders $40
    * Wald 215 chrome rack $30
    * Wald 151 chrome basket $40

    $335

    Plus a couple bucks worth of 0000 steel wool, aluminum polish, fabric glue, and grease.

  2. Shit – nice work! I’m picking up an old chrome huffy Ironman (prob an old dept store bike) tomorrow. Gonna reference your chrome bits list !

  3. Wow what a beaut! There’s one of those diamondbacks near me but I think they’re asking 150. Much better condition than the orphan you saved here. Well done!
