The Met Office has issued snow and ice weather warnings covering Greater Manchester and large parts of the UK this weekend. Forecasters have issued two weather warnings covering Greater Manchester and the North West.

The first yellow warning for ice covers the majority of England and all of Wales. The 17-hour alert comes into effect at 5pm today (February 13) and will remain in place until 10am tomorrow (February 14),

The Met Office says: “A band of rain and sleet, with a little snow on hills, will clear southwards across England and Wales during Friday evening and overnight. As skies clear, temperatures will fall below freezing leading to a risk of ice forming on untreated surfaces.” It has also warned of “some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths”.
