    I own the model just below this one, the Via Carisma. Mine’s a ’91. It’s an amazing bike that’s gotten me through two winters now. I’m currently running 700x40c 45NTH Gravdal studded tires with fenders. I could probably run up to about 45c with smooth tires and keep the fenders; I don’t know what the upper limit on clearance is for these Univega hybrids, but I’d guess about 48c or so.

    The tubeset on yours is the same as mine, IIRC; Tange double butted. The Via Montega got slightly better components (LX/XT mix) and the top of the line Via De Oro was full XT, along with having the upgraded Tange Infinity tubeset.

  3. so nice bike. look at the eyelets on the fork up there!

    im pretty sure i saw one recently that had mud guards and 42mm tires on it, but the frame name seemed different than this one.
