Hey guys, help a duck out. I recently bought a vintage Bianchi frame and it came with a fork. Im installing the crown race (26.4mm) but it just bottoms out without any effort. There are holes punched into the fork where the crown race sits. Here are some photos of the fork (multiple images showing rotated fork). Should I just soda-can-shim it? Any help is appreciated 🙂

Can you confirm that the crown race that you are trying to install is 26.4? Is it possible that you have a JIS crown race (which is 27.0)?
I had the reverse problem with my vintage bianchi. It had a 27.0 crown seat, and I had a 26.4mm crown race (chris king), so I could not get it on. Ended up milling my crown seat down to 26.4mm to have it finally work.
I’d probably trying installing it with a coating of green Loctite. Leave plenty of cure time and see how it’s fitting then.Â
i would put a 1 inch headset spacer on it to give it some more length.
