That's not true at all. Leather-soled shoes like loafers should never have a rubber sole attached to them. That ruins the shoes. That's the beauty of walking in pure leather soles and nothing to do with rubber.
I remember my dad getting me cowboy boots with a two piece rubber outsole instead of a leather sole with a Rubber heel like his cowboy boots. I asked him why they were different and he told me about how his were more traditional and in the wilderness or in pasture or whatever natural ground type the leather was more than tough enough and let him feel the ground beneath him. My boots weren’t going to see genuine use and we live in Michigan so he got me soles with grip to protect me in the small “city “ streets around our apartment/house. Knowing what I know about him now that I’m older I can only imagine the adventures he had with his boots in Alaska and other places. I don’t speak to my dad for several reasons but I will always respect him for his practical wisdom and his prowess as a marksman, hunter, bushcrafter, wildlife conservationist, woodworker, master diver, angler, butcher, redneck, outdoorsman, and survivalist(not by choice). Few ppl who seek “adventures” can truly call themselves such a title as adventurer bc what they call an adventure is a drive down a windy dirt road and what ppl like my father called an adventure is something like a solo mountain climb in the west where you harvest wild garnet stones that look kinda like a d20 or d12 but you also fall down said mountain and limp back to your base camp with broken bones and have to rest for a whole month before you can leave camp to find help bc no one had phone or anything then. He was just fucking one man caravaning a mountain and fell down the whole bitch and had to nurse himself back to health so he could leave to get medical aid lamoooooo the things my dad has survived turn my own stomach. Including over 40% 2nd-3rd degree burns over his whole body in his 70s(late ) and he is still somehow alive. That mf had loading stations for every round he used and even had an arrow making kit and several bows. He was state champion archer, skeet and trap shooter and marksman and I don’t talk to him but damn do I respect him a person. Not so much a father lol
Same applies to leather sole cowboy boots they’re great for dancing but when brand new without wear the sole is smooth and slippery.
Rubber soles are an option as well as although it might not match the aesthetic of the event. gliding, shuffling, and spinning while dancing won’t be as easy but it’s still your choice/preference in the end.
You can also get leather soles with rubber injections, which essentially means you have small leather surfaces integrated into a mostly leather outsole.
And if you live where winter is icy, you know that none of those options are great. Lug soles tend not to go out of style here, but the more exaggerated ones will look dated soon. I have some driving shoes which are basically a skinnier loafer, from Clark’s, that do not look bulky but do have Montana-safe soles. However, Clark’s quality has dropped, highly recommend thrifting if you need affordable stylish or elegant shoes with a proper sole for icy streets (tbh boots are usually better but don’t work with every look/dress code). I need to see if a cobbler can fix the scuffed toes that I cannot get polish to cover (oxblood is always tricky for me), because I’m not going to find shoes this office-appropriate & slip-proof for $50 anymore. I wonder is o blood can be overdyed brown? The more I wear these, the more I want them for work. Very comfy when standing.
Ik this cause I like wearing boots – Ngl loafers are gay but if you buy leather sole boots, you can rough them up with a rasp or sand paper or walking in them a while – It won’t be AS grippy as traction but if you bought leather sole just to add traction later than you did it to yourself
First off those shoes are gorgeous 😍 secondly I dig the coat! I have a pair of 'heritage' boots with a leather sole but a vibram heel, thank God for that vibram heel 😂 has saved me from slipping a few times!
I remember buying my first Bally-Suisse loafers… Then I bought some brogues. Then some Thursday Captains Then some LL Beans. Some Oxfords. And then some white Bally Suisse loafers.

ISHYGDDT
Why do your face swings
My dr marten loafers would probs have grip on Everest
You keep the leather outsole are you crazy. A rubber heel AT MOST is how you add more grip.
Just walk with them outside for a couple minutes and they’ll scratch up and have traction.
Yea you know those people are real shoe people all for the trends …
Literally just tread a couple times on the sidewalk and they’ll be grippy.
Price please
My oxfords came with a leather colored smooth rubber bottom. Can't tell they are rubber unless you feel them.
It's not a trick though man, people should take 5 mins and do your research
Top 5 are?
Just take them out to the cement, rub them back and forth for twenty seconds and you're fine. Otherwise, no one would wear leather soles.
But thay don't sound
Nooo, the leather is a masterpiece! Helps you dance like MJ too
Cowboy boots the same way. Any leather bottoms.

Or….just wear a pair of fkin sneakers.
This is fake
how about Sebago sizing? and I'm a woman 🙂

These Sebago won't last long
Steve Harvey claims sanding in a circular motion the leather sole gives traction, is this true?
HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
My pops always brought his shoes to a shoe shop to have grips installed. Man i forgot how important they are lol
Stupid video of fake menly men pretending to be real men but instead screams gay asl

Should call them sliders instead
Looking good guy!
All of my leather sole shoes have no rubber and they all have grip after wearing/scuffing up the leather sole.
Loafers are ugly af. Drivers are for real ones
He almost managed to take a selfie before hitting the ground.
Smooth leather outsoles are like built to slip on marble. 😂😂
How refreshing. A black man who does not wear bulky sneakers everywhere and knows about proper dressing.
Can‘t you just scratch the soles on concrete/stone for a while when they are new, as we do in Italy? Rubber soles are considered an absolute no-go.
Im getting them cuz michael jackson
First off those shoes are gorgeous 😍 secondly I dig the coat! I have a pair of 'heritage' boots with a leather sole but a vibram heel, thank God for that vibram heel 😂 has saved me from slipping a few times!
Awful advice from someone who doesn’t know quality shoes.
Thnks dude u are always helpful ❤
Same thing with cowboy boots. Leather soles are very comfortable and great for dancing, but not good for slippery conditions.
i like taking care of my clothing, i take my boots to the cobbler to add the sole protecters and treat them like my child lol
I remember buying my first Bally-Suisse loafers…

Man it’s a giant rabbit hole 😂
Just don't go on smooth surfaces in the rain right away and let them naturally get worn and develop a grip.
Garbage advice 😂 get a pair of Dr Martin’s and or Solovairs and you won’t have this problem 😅
I'll keep my handmade Italian loafers. Thanks though you can keep the pleather
Rubber soles = condoms for shoes.
