  1. You need a chain breaker, you slide it over the a and you screw in a pin that will push out the link’s connecting pin. It’s recommended that when you put the chain back together to use a quick link instead of trying to push the pin back in because it likely won’t hold up over time.

    but there is a chance that your bike does not have a quick link.

    in that case, get yourself a park tool chain breaker.
