Hello everyone, as you might be able to tell I’m pretty new to fixing up bikes. I picked this mountain bike yesterday and wanted to de-rust the chain. The problem is I don’t know how to get it off, I tried to google and it told me to locate a quick link but I cannot tell where the quick link is, can anyone help me?

Do you have a chain tool
You need a chain breaker, you slide it over the a and you screw in a pin that will push out the link’s connecting pin. It’s recommended that when you put the chain back together to use a quick link instead of trying to push the pin back in because it likely won’t hold up over time.

but there is a chance that your bike does not have a quick link.
in that case, get yourself a park tool chain breaker.
