26" MTB fork. It weighs 1071.5g. Oversized blades, kinda like 90’s GT's would have.
Also, does anyone know what bikes this could've come off of? The only markings on it are "OS blades" ("oversized" I'm guessing) and "Chien Sheng", which seems to be a manufacturer or an OEM in Taiwan.

No, the density of different steel alloys is essentially indistinguishable.
Not sure about the weight thing but you could always use a magnet to see if steel or not.
I’m pretty that’s steel. It looks like there is surface rust on the drop out

The only thing we can reasonably assess is the quality of the dropouts. These appear to be thin, stamped steel instead of cast. For that reason I’d assume the fork is high tensile steel, not chromoly.
You should cross post to r/xbiking
Chrome moly goes ding!
Chiensheng goes dong
Use a magnet….
This is no way scientific but hi-ten often has shitty looking welds. I’m talking gaps in the weld, sharp edges and the drop outs often look like they are stamped from cheap sheet metal. Decent cro-mo forks tend to look cleaner and the dropouts are often more refined if that makes sense.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t find exceptions on both sides of this of course. Just speaking generally.
I had one of those OS forks. I bought it for a cool color (purple) which matched a build I was doing.
I’m assuming OS meant “oversized” because it was damn fat tubing. But also it was so damn heavy… I donated it to my bike coop and bought another model.
