This bike had a 90 or 100mm stem on it and I ran it with a flat bar. I always wanted a more upright position, so I got some 40mm rise bars and a 35mm stem.

That wasn't quite enough, so I picked up these Cruise Control bars and put them on, but some of you pointed out they were rolled too far forward in my last post. They were comfortable that way, so I figured it was the short stem.

I had a 50mm stem with a slight rise laying around. I put it on and rolled the bars back.

It probably looks better, right? It feels fine.

You need to bring the brake handles up the same 15° to compensate for the 15° down that the bars did, they aren’t level like that.

  2. This looks so much more pleasing to the eye with the angles matching up!

Everybody is right about comfort being important… but I also care about my bikes being aesthetically pleasing and having clean lines.

I would try the brake levers turnt a little up and see if it bothers you.

To me it looks like the bars are leaning back more than they should but you do you. It looks like it would be a fun one to rip around on

  4. I wasn’t trying to put you out! I think this looks good. If you’ve got a long torso, maybe even something like 100mm stem would help you get the desired reach.
Ps. side note, road geometry bikes are designed around 80-110mm stems for appropriate handling.
