picked up a specialized sirrus for about $100. I've been happy with it to get my cardio in. I've noticed I can't get into half of the gears on one side…. any ideas?
been happy with the bike but this is the biggest issue I've noticed. I've been happy with the working gears but I figured this would be useful to fix.
Not sure how to get the back shifter to go into gears 4-1.

The drivetrain needs to be moving/rotating to be able to shift. Do you still have this problem while riding the bike?
Find a small hole into the shifter and spray WD40 into it. Try shifting again over and over again.
As a second thought – is your wheel in? If you have a way to do this with the wheel out, do that.
I would say its to do with cable tension to your rear derailleur.

Wd-40 and spamming the shifter worked.
