Looking forward to a summer (late Aug – early Sep) tour in Quebec with my 12 year old, the first year on her own bike after touring on our tandem the last four. We've previously stayed in hotels, AirBnb, Warmshowers.
Think I'll bring my tent this time and get a second inflatable pad. With typical overnight lows around 55-60F, seems like we could get by with two very light, compact, cheap blankets like these ($20, 12 oz, packs to 11.6" x 4.3") – any reason I'd regret that, or a dirt cheap pad like this for the kiddo?
I'd like to keep it very light & compact – don't want to give her too much weight, and my light rando bike can only carry so much. Probably won't sleep in a tent more than 6-8 nights per year, so durability isn't much concern.
