Hi there, I built this bike last summer and am very happy with it. :—) I upgraded the stem and handlebars (700 mm). I like the aggressive look and it's great for commuting in the city, but after about 10 miles, I notice that my wrists start to hurt. (I'm planning longer rides in the coming months.) I'm looking for handlebars with a little more rise and more backsweep, but they shouldn't be too cruisy. I've looked at the Ergotec City Cruiser, but I'm unsure about the 640 mm width as it could be too narrow for me.

Magic components worm bar
I’ve had the soma dream riser on a couple different frames and they are very comfy and nice looking. They come in three levels of rise, each with slightly more sweep, in both a polished silver and black finish.
The city cruiser ist like riser bar with little rise and little backsweep. Nothing special, almost boring. But maybe exact your fit. What about the ergotec „spacebügel“ or if you like even more width, than maybe the BLB Drifter Bar?
It has no rise but the backsweep and width should both fit your usecase.
Anyway, a 700mm wide flat bar without backsweep, is not suitable for touring.
Ergotec 70mm risers
How are the Avid levers with the Canti brakes? I always thought that they are not very good with Cantis due to the pull ratio, so would be great to hear your experience.
Don’t be worried about the width. It’s plenty wide not to cause comfort issues. Most of us ride drips with a width of 44-50 or something like that. The only reason people ride wider bars is for leverage off road. I generally ride 700mm or so sept bars. But I often ride my fiancés e-bike wirh the smaller 650mm Jones Bar. No problem at all for me.
Soma make bar extenders which I am using on a new build and are fantastic.
