Hi all,

I'm 5'10, 260 lbs and trying to get back into biking after a decade long hiatus. I've already been walking for errands and hiking, and figured I'd start doing that on a bike.

In the past, I've always used flat top MTBs for all scenarios, but decided to give Journeyer CUES a test ride. Ultimately decided against it because the 55" frame hunched my back and I was hesitant about the price, but when I saw a 57" Sora on clearance, I gave it a test ride and decided to purchase it.

I'm still getting used to the drop bar and worry my build or fitness will make it difficult, especially since the CIT 1.1 feels more natural and is cheaper. I like the downhill and stretch the Sora gives in my back (hoping that's a good sign), but have difficulty with control especially at low speeds. It almost feels too free versus the resistance I'm normally used to on MTBs. Another point is I'll likely be riding with a school backpack and look into attaching a rear basket for groceries. Would appreciate any thoughts or guidance.

  1. That looks like a great bike for commuting and recreational riding. It has attachment points for a rear rack, which is a good way to carry luggage. This bike would work well for bicycle touring or bike packing. The fact you tried it and liked it is very important. Good work. Get a very good lock and keep it indoors in a safe place.
