Triple is going to have more range than a double, and possibly more range than a 1x depending on your current setup and which 1x you upgrade to.
What specifically do you hope to gain from getting a more modern groupset?
I mean… you can get sram red etap with rim brakes… So the sky is the limit.
I’ve got Shimano 105 R7000 on my 87 Specialized Sirrus
