Today I visited Canyon store in Koblenz and fell totally in love with Grail 2.0. As my budget is limited, I am entertaining the idea of buying either CF SL7 or CF SL 8. As I have been sick with Long Covid for the past 2 years and not likely to get better, I need easy gears and light bike for climbing, as my ability to do intensity in training is limited (intensity = hills).

I am confused – the new CF SL 7 has GRX820 2×12 but combined with an old 105 11-34 casette. Does that mean that range is the same as for old GRX810 2×11 + 11-34 casete (range 0.91-4.36)? Or the 2×12 setup gives more range and easier gears even though paired with old 11-34 cassette?

If that is so, then it is quite similar to the new GRX820 1×12 with 42/10-45T used on CF SL 8 (range 0.93-4.2)?

What is the difference between 0.91 and 0.93 gear ratio when it comes to climbing? Can a bit lighter bike compensate for it? Once again – I am sick with Long Covid and need easier gears for climbing bc I can’t push high intensity.
