So I've been regularly riding my Growler for about a year now, and decided I want to treat my self and upgrade its fork.
I've set my eyes on the Marzocchi Bomber Z1 and am pretty convinced this is what I will end up going with this spring. I'd go with the 29" wheel and 150mm travel options.
My biggest questions are, having never upgraded a fork on a bike:
- Will this fork be compatible with my bike? Looking at google, and some other threads on Reddit, it appears it will. I just want to understand what I'm looking for in terms of specs. From my understanding I want the rake to be 44mm, with the travel to be correct to the manufacturers specs, and same wheel size, right? Are those the big three I need to be concerned with?
- My previous front wheel will obviously fit with the new fork right? Like, a Z1 one isn't going to suddenly require a whole new wheel I will need to purchase for this?
I'm sure I'm overthinking a lot of this, but don't want to make an expensive mistake. I'm 99% confident this is the right fork to grab for my bike, but was hoping more experienced riders who've upgraded their forks could guide me.
Side question: Google AI mentions Marzocchi has spring sales, can anyone confirm this from previous experience? Do they typically discount their forks around this time. I missed their last sale and didn't capitalize on it when I should have.
