Went out for a 25 mile ride yesterday and noticed this on my left fork on my way home. I’m positive it happened when I put my bike down brake side to setup my phone for a video of a 2’ drop. Bike’s 3 months old and has < 300 miles on it. I contacted Fox and they wanted me to file a claim but I might have to pay for shipping which isn’t cheap for a fork. So do I tear it down and do a lower fork service (I’ve done 3 of them on my 36 before) or is it something worse than a busted seal and send it to Fox?

Bite the bullet and pay for shipping. The alternative might be a lot more expensive down the road, because, you know, it’s Fox.

  2. Surely shipping is a fairly similar cost to a lower leg service kit? I’d send it off in the off chance that there’s something else wrong with the fork beyond poor assembly/damaged seal

  3. If you have a box that will fit the fork, use PirateShip.com for postage. It’s free to sign up and you will save a ton of money compared to going to UPS store or the post office.
