  1. Listen to the Todd Lyons Unclicked interview. He offers some perspective. Shoot, even the Taj interview, and what he did with Faidale (not the same but similar reasons beyond bmx)

  2. Bikelife used to refer to anyone who rode anything. It could be the fixed gear gang, roadies, bmx crews, downhill riders, cruisers and every other possible bike sub culture. Even the fixie polo boys. At least it was here. I could go out on any bike and run into a group and get on with and ride with them. Fixed/SS, bmx, road or mtb didn’t matter.

Seems wheely kids consider themselves the only true bikelifers out there now which is sad.

Wheely tricks are cool. Riding into traffic, on train tracks, through shops or pedestrianised areas? Not so cool.

  3. Alright so, and this isn’t meant to be gate keeping. Wheelie bikes aren’t bmx, regardless if they’re made by a bmx brand or not. It’s a separate format entirely now with its own sub culture, either feral kids trying to wipe themselves out swerving in and out of traffic, or old men riding to the bar! Sure its origins is somewhat bmx, but that doesn’t make it bmx.
Is it freestyle? Again not really, now don’t get me wrong enjoy bikes how you want, that is surely the basis of bike life, but yeah not bmx
