Hi, all!

I recently moved to a new city and I'm looking for a used city bike under €150, mainly for commuting and leisurely rides. I'm a big fan of dutch-style bikes, both aesthetically and practically – low maintenance, sturdy steel frames, strong enough to carry groceries and comfortable for strolling through the city. My last bike was an old Batavus with an aluminum step-through frame, 3 speeds, 26" wheels and I loved it, but had to sell it when I moved.

I've found a couple of second-hand bikes in my area, but I'm not sure how to chose and what to look out for. Many of the dutch-style bikes I've seen here are single-speed, and there are a couple of newer models with similar aesthetics which have multiple speeds, but they have larger 28" wheels (don't know if that will be an issue for my height, I'm 5'4).

Please help me make a good choice and let me know if anything stands out to you as a potential issue with these bikes. I'll also be very grateful for any tips on what to look out for when buying a second-hand bike like this.

Thank you!

28″ is something of an uncommon wheel size, it’s possible they’re measuring a 700c wheel with a tape measure. I don’t imagine it’d be an issue either way though, most modern bikes come with 700c wheels in all but the very smallest sizes. What may affect your fit though is the length of the seatpost. If it’s too long, then you may not be able to get the seat low enough. The Bianchi seems to have quite a long seatpost which you may struggle with. Shame as it’s gorgeous otherwise. The Loris one is probably a safer bet, and has more modern brakes which is probably a plus. But they appear to be from the same seller so you could maybe try them both out if they’re still available.
