I grew up skiing in Kitzbuhel and I have skied more or less the exact route they take after the race weekend several times and the fastest I have ever done it is 3 minutes 57 seconds and It felt like I was going lightspeed
This event … ๐ข brings a tear to my 52 year old eyes. FRANZ KLAMMER was my hero. I lived in french alps 95' when Luc Alphond won…i cant remenber the party !!
'Tis the Hahenkamm, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway & Talladega Superspeedway of alpine skiing in Kitzbรผhel. This is an inarguable challenge to those wanting to conquer it big time.
I went to the rennen when I was 23, I am now 50, but remember it like it was yesterday. We walked upto just behind the last mound before the finish.
If a skiรซr came down, you first heard the crowd cheering, and cow bells and all that. But then you could hear the skiรซr come closer, the noise of the air around him, the clattering of the ski's on the icy slope, getting louder, swelling louder and louder, sssssSSSSSSSGGGGGGGHHHH… And then 2-3 seconds of absolute silence, as the skiรซr flies 20, 30, 40 metres through the air; whilst I'm trying to get a glimps of the skiรซr flying through the air, before landing with a loud SLAP!!!! Then crossing the finish line another second or so later and the crowd exploding into even more noise, as one of their fellow countrymen sets a new fastest time.
One of THE most impressive things I have ever seen; a human hurtling himself down an icy mountain going over 120kmph, it was insane! Actually, I think it were about 50 or so. I think Gunther Mader won that one. But it was awesome!
More ski partnerships for everybody, have fun everybody, snow is a golden asset we have to take advantage on it…as long as we can, the best we can exploit the winter season for further welfare and Alpine tourism, for using sports business to dismantle further pollution, turning back the natural lifestyle and resources, turning back to love stunning landscapes of a kind…go champs go for it, please do โค๐โค
I have went down parts of that slope. It is very very steep and so icy but the best part is seeing the closed of parts that are not even skiable. 60 % of the race is down literal cliffs that in any other case you wouldnโt think a person can ski that down. It is truly incredible what these guys and girls are doing truly out of this world
In formula uno hanno usato la grafica per fare vedere due macchine in pista contemporaneamente durante il giro veloce per fare vedere il confronto diretto della distanza in cm. Si potrebbe fare una cosa simile per le gare di sci.

It was such a shame when Vancouver was awarded the 2010 Olympics over Salzburg, because Salzburg was going to hold the Olympic downhill at Kitzbรผhel.

Risk vs Safety. The only finer line is the finish line! Love it!

Two words: Todd Brooker. <shudder>
YES! Real Champ.
Imagine doing it without the blue lines, like they did it in the old days. Why is this not cheating?
