
Axle cone on generic bike wheel is kaput, so want to replace. Brand new they are like $25, but I had a thought to use an only junked wheel for parts. Every measurement BUT the height/length lines up. 1mm off…im thinking that it's so close that it should be fine?
Some pitting on this salvaged cone but I should be able to sand it down a wee bit.
Bad cone is on the bottom.

Probably ok but can still cause dishing problems. I’d try to find a washer to make up for the missing mm(s).
Yeah, just adjust the other spacers
That cup is spalled all to hell. Are you sure it’s not just better to replace it. Sanding it will not help.
