I rode my 45mm Pirelli gravel M tyres through the summer without any issues (also rain) but this winter I did some rides with apparently too much mud. Can people help me out if this is just paint damage or if I cannot ride anymore because of possible carbon damage that needs to be fixed first?

Time for a new bike
I disagree that it’s time for a new bike… how deep is it? Hard to tell from the photo. Did you do the coin test (tap the frame with a coin, does the noise change around that spot), how does it feel when you push it? On some bikes, like the Lauf, that chain stay is solid carbon. Even if the carbon was damaged on that bike similar to what you are showing, I’d still ride it no problem. If you’re really concerned, take it to a carbon repair guy in your area for his opinion.
Doesn’t look like a crack, rather just paint damage. I’d keep riding it and in a month you’ll forget about it.
Looks like just the paint to me. Get a magnifying glass an a torch and see if the damage is deeper once that paint has been rubbed away.
If not, drop some paint on it to protect the fibres and send the thing.
Def time to swap to a 40
You’re fine.
