The front brake spring tension holes are towards the inside. Reversed the cantilever springs to make it work. My ocd wants to match the rear brake but the frame has chainstay mounted bosses with no tension spring holes. So No go on the matching cantilever. Anyone know of any matching brake options that may work for both front and rear unconventional brake mounting requirements. Thank you.

  1. There are no matching brakes, the rear needs a u-brake or if you have some money to spend a vintage rollercam brake instead of a cantilever brake like the front which doesn’t need the spring holes as the spring tension is set with the wrench flats when the brake is mounted.

Hey I don’t wanna ruin the party, but… I worked in a shop from 1989 – 1999. Those frames were famous for coming unglued. Like, catastrophic failure. And that was in the early 90’s when they only would have had a few seasons of riding on them. Don’t count on visual inspection. Headtube lug separating from top tube and down tube was common.
