Just got gifted a new derailleur set both front and back should I keep the original and just clean and fix them up or should I swap it with the new set
If the bike is still working as intended, keep the bike as is, clean it up a bit. Don’t replace Acera with generic Shimano.

Service & keep what’s on the bike if you can, its clearly better quality than that Altus or whatever that plastic rear mech is.

I think your chainrings are a higher priority. I can only imagine what your chain looks like based on the rust on the teeth and on the rear derailleur jockey wheels.

The front is probably like-for-like so it might be easier to install it rather than try to fix the old one?
As someone else mentioned though, you might need new chainrings as well, which points to a potential 1x conversion if you can get enough range
I wish they made rear mechs like that but with galvanized hex bolts and alu instead of steel/plastic, for everything up to 12s lol

Put things into perspective, you were gifted about $20-30 worth of parts there. That rear derailleur is the lowest end that Shimano makes, and usually only goes on Walmart bikes so they can stamp “SHIMANO” on the frame.
The existing parts on your bike are older, but look better quality.
