I'm currently daydreaming of a late August 2026 tour across Europe. I'm trying to vaguely plan the section between Strasbourg -> Triglav National Park and I'm stuck! I imagine it'll be hard to go wrong in this part of Europe but I just wanted to get some advice from some more experienced tourers/locals.
- Any must sees? I definitely want to experience the niche of visiting Liechtenstein, otherwise I'm pretty easy.
- Should I go the long way around to see more of Switzerland?
- Austria vs Italy for the eastern section?
Thank you!

Only thing I can recommend: Don’t stop there, go to Bled and maybe Bohinj, its not far anymore.
This looks like [My route](https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycletouring/s/HPxOhh8Jj8) from a couple of years ago. Literally wherever you go you can’t go wrong.
Lichtenstein is shit. There’s nothing there worth seeing.
There are more businesses there than people.
Friuli is a great place to cycle through. Few tourists. Good bike paths.
If it were me I’d cross the Brenner and cycle in through Italy. Better food, better service (no surly Austrians), better coffee, better for wild camping. Just better in general.
It will be a very enjoyable route, like you said you can’t really go wrong as long as you avoid the main roads without cycle lanes alongside them.
O e comment would be that you would mostly be riding through valleys, which is nice, and sometimes spectacular, but if you enjoy climbing and the views that come with it, there are better alternatives
